When a phase-to-ground fault, a phase-to-phase
combined-to-ground fault, or a disconnection combined with a ground fault occurs, in short, as long as there is phase-to-ground insulation damage, the relative armoring method is preferred. The advantage is that the propagation attenuation of discharge sound at the fault point is small.
As shown in Figure , connect the high-voltage output of the high-voltage generator to the faulty phase of the cable, and connect the test ground to the metal armor of the cable.
